On the Oxfam website, they issued an article about Haiti’s current poverty condition called Haiti Livelihoods Program. This article is about the horrible condition Haiti is currently under, and how the government has completely neglected their people and their country. Haiti has some of the highest rates of inequality and food-insecurity of any country in the world. The government has completely shunned, ostracized them by excluding them from basic social services, education, and health facilities, in addition to, the long-lasting effects of natural disasters. There are 1.6 million residents in a cycle of poverty in the rural of Artibonite Valley. Only 6% of the population is not affected by hunger, while 43% are facing food hunger.
